À Qingdao, le premier a décroché l’or en solo, avant de monter sur le podium en double avec son frère. Une belle récompense pour ces deux Seine-et-Marnais qui pratiquent l’aviron depuis 24 ans, en parallèle de leur travail. Un titre mondial qui s’est joué à rien Ils étaient partis en Chine avec l’idée de briller en double, c’est désormais chose faite avec la troisième place de l’épreuve. Mais Alexis a aussi créé la surprise en remportant le titre mondial en solo. « On y allait vraiment pour le double. Après, le solo, c’était une très belle surprise » , explique-t-il. Le rameur de 34 ans s’est imposé avec seulement 0,79 seconde d’avance sur l’Américain Christopher Bak, champion du monde 2025 de beach rowing sprint. Le bronze décroché avec Aymeric avait également une grosse signification pour les deux frères. En double, ils avaient terminé cinquièmes aux Mondiaux en 2021 et en 2023, puis quatrièmes en 2024, et cette fois, ils sont montés sur le podium. « En double, on rame souvent ensemble. C’est vraiment une épreuve sur laquelle on voulait aller chercher un résultat » , expliquent-ils. L’aviron côtier, une autre façon de ramer À Qingdao, les deux Seine-et-Marnais ont disputé des courses d’aviron côtier. La discipline se pratique sur un parcours de 6 kilomètres, avec des bouées à contourner et des conditions qui peuvent changer au fil de la course. Les vagues, le vent et les courants obligent les rameurs à adapter leur trajectoire. « Les bateaux sont beaucoup plus larges, justement pour résister aux creux des vagues » , expliquent les frères Fortier. « On peut avoir des creux de vagues et parfois même des surfs. C’est beaucoup plus vivant que sur la rivière. » La stratégie prend aussi une place importante, car « le vent peut nous pousser d’un côté et les courants nous obligent à adapter notre direction ».
